This Sunday, April 7th, is the two hour season premiere of Mad Men. Hot damn! So light up a menthol, raise your glass, and read this quick recap of past seasons to get you caught up to speed.
One of my guilty pleasures is watching the AMC hit show Mad Men. I love the sets/costumes, the actors, and the writing. I watched the first four seasons in a span of a month. I didn’t think I’d like it, but I was hooked. Some of you may not have seen it yet (or might not care to) and I realize we live in a bite-sized entertainment culture where we have super short attention spans.
So here is my quick take on things, a zippy little recap of the entire show in 500 words or less:
[warning! Spoiler Alert! If you haven’t seen all the seasons yet, you don’t want to read further…]
Ooh! Jazzy cool theme song and opening credits!
Yes, we all work in an ultra-hip Manhattan advertising agency. And we drink.
A lot.

Oh DP. I always want a cigarette after reading your blog, IYKWIM. 😉

I like that this is a mini version of the summarized recap. I hope there’s a tweet about the mini summary recap next. I only read things in blurb form.
Next year when I re-do my re-do of the recap, it’ll be one word long.
How about two words: Jon Hamm.
BINGO!
I love Mad Men, too! I was wondering when it was coming back. Thanks for the info. 🙂
I had forgotten about the show until I saw something about it this morning.
Gosh, you make me wish I had HBO! Sounds like I’m missing a steamy show. Whenever I hear anyone talk about Mad Men, they always start off by telling me about John Hamm and how cute he is. But, after reading your recap, I find that Betty Draper character just as fascinating.
You can watch it on AMC, not HBO. I don’t have HBO either. Hamm is so damn sexy and a great actor. He’s been on 30 Rock with Tina Fey a few times too and is hilarious. I really can’t stand Betty but I suppose that means she’s a good actress. Or maybe she’s just as mean in real life.
Ah, to go back to a time when nobody could breathe in the office …
I remember even in the 70s my dad used to smoke while picking out produce. Second hand smoke was so sexy back then. (cough)
Yup. I had relatives visiting over the weekend, one of whom was such a heavy smoker that 2 days later the house still smells of it. Yuck.
As much as I like Mad Men, I think I like the AMC promos (the ones that show how Mad Men, The Walking Dead, and Breaking Bad are all basically the same show) even more.
I’ve never seen those promos, I’ll have to look them up on the net. I started Breaking Bad on Netflix but only made it to the bathtub scene in the second or third episode.
Can. not. wait! I need me some Mad Men!!
I DVR’d the two hour episode and have only watched half of it so far…
Mad Men is definitely my guilty pleasure. Only one more minutes before it’s on! When it used to air during the summer, I would record the show, wait until my husband had gone to bed, then pour a drink and watch with the windows open and the late night summer breeze coming in. It added to the ambiance of time period.
ahhh….you paint a lovely picture there. Late night summer breeze and a drink? Heaven! I still haven’t seen the entire episode from last night yet. And here I am on my blog AGAIN. sigh..
