The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2011 annual report for this blog.
Here’s an excerpt:
The concert hall at the Syndey Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 28,000 times in 2011. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 10 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

I am shocked, shocked that they refer to themselves as “helper monkeys”?! Did they read my Mr. Skittles post? And could they please hire him? He’s really smart and lovable and (somewhat) housebroken…
Also, thank you everyone for reading and supporting my blog. I appreciate every single comment. I look forward to more in 2012. Happy New Year!
Darla, i do not know you are going to believe it or not, but when i saw this annual report cad of WordPress in my mail; i laughed out laud, thinking now you got one more thing to really make fun of. I was somewhat confident, a post on this report, would come from you. 🙂
Wish you a very happy & prosperous new year. I am very new in this blogging, to wish your blog to get lot more recognition. Still let me do so. 🙂 Best wishes to you and your family & your wonderful blog.
I think it’s funny that my little short post about a vacuum still to this day, gets the most hits.
Congratulations! Please keep eating chocolate!
Will do! It’s going to be an easy resolution.
It was a nice little end of the year feature to receive. I liked it! Too bad I don’t like opera…
Me neither, SDS! Fun to go back and see who commented the most and what posts got the most hits. Was it just me or did 2011 blow by super fast?
Darla, I’m not very good at making predictions, but I’m sure you’re going to be flooded with new readers and comments this year. Your blog continues to be one of my favorites.
Are you thinking about a book yet?
Charles, I am thinking about it and it’s your encouragement that is helping me take action. Thank you so much for your support and comments this past year, it has always helped spur me on, and to strive to write even when I feel like I have nothing to say. Reading your blog gives me inspiration and I can’t thank you enough!
Aw man, I only had 6 sold out shows. *sigh* I resolve to do better this year. HA! Congrats, Darla.
P.S. To top the list of comments for my blog, too. You get me. (smile)
and you get me! Looking forward to another year of blogging with you.
Wishing you and your blog a great 2012! 🙂
Thanks so much, Mark. Your blog continues to be one of my favorites to read.
Congratulations Darla.
Like Lenore I also got 6 sold out shows, but the most interesting part of my year in review was this line:
the total archive of this blog was 298 posts
A month ago – OK on December 5th to be exact – after I pressed publish I was given a message “congratulations you’ve just posted your 300th post”.
Huh?
my post with the most viewings was on July 26th “It’s the end of the story…” My Mom would’ve liked that.
Either 298 or 300 posts! That is quite the achievement, Rosie. I have to confess, I was happy to see this review post added to my post count, so I could finally reach 75 posts published. I thought maybe I’d get a prize from WordPress, like my computer would explode and shower me with money… or at the very least some fireworks and confetti. Oh, well. My goal is to write more this year and not be so critical of myself in the process, but just let things fly. Happy New Year to you and I look forward to reading more of you blog!
Hi,
It was great to receive a review, a very nice surprise. Really had to laugh at the helper monkeys bit. 😀
It was cool to see the stats and where people all over the world have viewed your blog. I find that stuff endlessly fascinating.
28,000 views! Wow! Contratulations!! I never really cared about views or hits or the like, before, but I have to say that when they put all the numbers into a report, it’s hard to not want to make those numbers get bigger.
Here’s to blogging in 2012!
Oh! Forgot something. I get a kick out of where on the globe my readers are. After the US, I apparently had a lot of hits from India and the Philippines (all 5 of them).
I always check my views and get a bit obsessed sometimes. That’s just my nature, I guess. It’s fun to see what posts generate the most hits. My vacuum post still to this day gets hits every single day because some poor fool somewhere has vac’d up their kids toys and is looking for help. haha!
Hey I got one of those too. I think mine said 7 sold out performances. Was kind of fun to see it all though. Happy New Year! Looking forward to your posts in 2012!
Count me in for many more views of your blog in 2012– bravo!
Ha, Darla, I wanted to write a post about this report, too, but instead I deleted it for fear that seeing dismal results might discourage me, LOL. Well, sometimes ignorance is bliss. Love your blog, love your comments, and here’s to a fantabulous 2012!
